CHOW CHOW KOOTTU


Ingredients:

Chow chow -1
Moong dal -1/4 cup
Turmeric powder -1 tsp
Salt –to taste

TO GRIND:

Grated coconut -2 tsp
Black pepper -1 tsp
Ulundhu -1 tsp
Red chilly -2
Cumin seed -2 tsp
Oil -1 tsp

TO TADAKA:

Mustard seed -1 tsp
Urad dal -1 tsp
Curry leaves
Ghee -1 tsp


Method:

Pressure cook moon dal  with turmeric powder.[1 whistle]
Add chopped chow chow and salt again cook till it done.
Heat oil in a pan, add pepper, cumin, red chili, urad dal  and grated coconut  fry it till it turns golden brown.
Once it is cool, grind it as a coarse powder.
 Add ground powder to the moon dal and chow chow mix and mix well.
In a seasoning pan heat ghee, add mustard seed and curry leave.
Finally add into the dal mix and mix well.
